MFCC’s Origin Story

There's a version of this story where we moved…again.

A version where I continued to serve under a 3-star general, and my husband kept the career that earned him 3 Emmy® Awards.

But we chose home, and everything that followed —including our businesses— came from that one decision.

We finally found our home

My husband and I spent years moving. That's military life. You go where you're needed, you build something wherever you land, and then you go again. He served on active duty for ten years, then spent another decade as a civilian with the Air Force. I served as a civilian for six years. We got really good at starting over.

But when we settled in Hellertown, something felt different.

For the first time, a place felt like it was ours. The community welcomed us in a way that caught us off guard. We weren't just residents. We felt like neighbors. And for two people who had spent the better part of their adult lives not quite putting down roots, that mattered more than we expected.

Then January 2025 arrived with a decision we hadn't fully anticipated. Stay in the Lehigh Valley or preserve our careers. We could keep the income and the titles. For me, that meant continuing to serve under a 3-star general as his DAG Deputy. For my husband, Pete, that meant keeping his career as the Engagement Director of the Air Force’s premier software development unit and the work that earned him 3 Emmys. But that would also mean that we’d have to walk away from a place that finally felt like home.

We chose home.

When you make a decision like that, you have to search deep within yourself to figure out what comes next. For us, it didn’t take long to realize that we had so much to give this community that welcomed us with open arms.

A seed was planted - the five-minute conversation that changed everything before we knew it would

To understand how My Favorite Cleaning Co and Pink’s Windows Lehigh Valley came to be, we have to go back to late 2024. I had been looking for a cleaner for our own home. We had just moved into a new community, I was a busy mom with 2 little boys (and newly pregnant with baby boy #3), and I needed help. I asked around. My neighbors were asking the same questions. Nobody was getting responses. The few companies that did call back were inconsistent, hard to communicate with, or just fine.

Not great. Just fine.

One afternoon, on what I can only describe as a whim, I called our builder and asked if they needed cleaners for their new construction projects.

They said yes immediately.

In a five-minute phone call, I had my first client. I hadn't written a business plan. I hadn't done market research. I had just asked a direct question and gotten a direct answer. And in that moment, I understood something: there was a real gap here. People in this community needed reliable, professional cleaning services and weren't finding them.

I kept asking around to make sure it wasn't a fluke. I got the same answer every time.

I had started taking on post-construction cleans on the weekends. It started small and practical, the way most things do. But I noticed something in that work that surprised me.

I loved it.

Not just the cleaning itself, though I genuinely do find satisfaction in it. I loved what it gave people. Handing someone back a space that felt calm and cared for. Giving a family a home that was ready for them instead of one they had to dig out from under. I started to understand what it felt like to finally trust someone with your home. And I understood how rare that was. That impact felt meaningful in a way I wasn't expecting from what most people would call a simple service.

So, when we chose home in January 2025 and started to ask ourselves what came next, the answer took shape pretty quickly.

Pete channeled that same energy into launching Pink's Windows Lehigh Valley.

The reasoning behind our name

The name My Favorite Cleaning Co isn't a marketing decision. It's a commitment.

Lifelong public servants don't stop wanting to serve just because they leave their official roles. My husband and I spent our careers in service to something larger than ourselves. Starting businesses in the community that welcomed us felt like a continuation of that, not a departure from it.

We didn't want to be a cleaning company people tolerated or forgot about. We wanted to be the one they recommended to their neighbors, the one they were genuinely glad to have found, the one that made their lives measurably easier.

Your favorite. That's a high bar. We know that. We feel it every time we walk through a client's door.

But we also knew from the moment I made that first phone call that the Lehigh Valley deserved better than fine. Your favorite. That's the standard we set for ourselves on day one. It's the standard we hold ourselves to every single time we walk through your door.

What we’ve built

Today My Favorite Cleaning Co is a full team of trained professionals who share the same belief we started with - that the people of this community deserve a cleaning service that actually shows up, does the job right, and treats your home like it matters. We're not the biggest company in the Lehigh Valley. But we are the most invested in earning that name.

Between My Favorite Cleaning Co. and Pinks Windows Lehigh Valley, our family now serves hundreds of homes across the valley. Two businesses, one mission - to be the kind of companies your neighborhood is genuinely glad exists.

In 2025, we were voted a Nextdoor Neighborhood Fave, which meant more to us than almost anything else we could have been recognized for. To date, we have donated over 40 hours of cleaning to serve families that could use a helping hand. Being a good neighbor is one of the principles by which we run this business. That award felt like proof we were on the right track.

We're also members of the Lehigh Valley Chamber of Commerce, because this community is not just where we work. It's where we live. It's home. And we intend to keep showing up for it.

My Favorite Cleaning Co. isn't the only thing we've built here. My husband and I also launched Pink's Windows Lehigh Valley, bringing the same standards of reliability and professionalism to exterior window cleaning, power washing, and home washing across the valley. Two businesses, one belief - that the people of this community deserve service providers who actually show up, do the job right, and treat your home like it matters.
